ATP Systems Manager – QLD Intermodal

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Locomotive Fleet Manager, the ATP Systems Manager will co-ordinate, monitor and report against all aspects of the Automatic Train Protection (ATP) System fitted to the QLD Intermodal PN Class Locomotive Fleet.  This position ensures that the Operational and Maintenance functions of the system are implemented and managed effectively in order to meet Driver-Only Operation Accreditation.

Other key responsibilities include:

  • Develop reporting to communicate system compliance to management and other relevant stakeholders
  • Monitor driver adherence to procedures of the system
  • Liaise with Integrated Planning Services (IPS) to ensure documentation is completed for on-route failures
  • Engage with internal functions including IPS and Intermodal Operations, and external stakeholders such as the rail regulator, maintenance contractors and network providers
  • Monitor system failures and ensure the maintenance contractor attends locomotives
  • Analyse data to identify potential failures and problem areas/locomotives
  • Identify Training needs with Operations and the Maintenance Contractors and assist with implementation


About You

Ideally the successful candidate will have the following:

  • Previous experience within the rail industry and an understanding of locomotive operations
  • Knowledge and experience in ATP from within a technical, commercial or operational role
  • Ability to understand and interpret contract/policy documents, Train Plans and technical Specifications
  • Developed analytical and negotiation skills as well as proven problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Ability to engage and influence customers and other stakeholders effectively
