The Opportunity

The Finance Manager will provide effective support to the Head of Finance and is the Business Partner to the operational team with a focus on supporting key leaders within our Business. The successful candidate will have strong people skills with the ability to support, coach and partner with the business on key finance matters. Our ideal candidate will have extensive understanding of Cash Flow, P&L, financial models and metrics. Further, the role will support the business with budgeting, forecasting and alignment with the 5 years strategic plan. The role will be based at our Newcastle Depot and will also require some travel.

The key responsibilities include:

  • Directing, controlling and administering financial management activities including the annual budget and weekly projections on performance.
  • Supporting the execution of the commercial strategy to support delivery of sustainable financial results.
  • Delivering critical business reports that will enable the business to grow and develop.
  • Supporting the development of a set of standard financial models ensuring robustness and accuracy for use by the operational business teams.
  • Conducting market and industry analysis as required.
  • Supporting internal audit and risk reporting, including collation of outstanding matters assessment as required.

About You

  • Tertiary qualifications in Finance/Law or other related discipline.
  • Experience with finance applications (Cognos, Tableau, Peoplesoft or Oracle is highly regarded)
  • Experience in a Senior Financial role in similar or comparable industry (Rail, Heavy Industry, Aviation).
  • Strong computer literacy; experience with analytical tools and applications.
  • Strong analytical and strong problem solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate and present financial outcomes/findings to the business.
  • Ability to relate and work with people across the organisation
