The Opportunity

Working as a part of the Safety & Environment team, your role will be to provide support and work closely with our business leaders in identifying risk and implement controls for people, environment & property, supporting Pacific National's core value of "Home Safely Every Day". This position sits within our Assets and Infrastructure business unit and is based in either Newcastle OR Melbourne. This is a 12 month fixed term contract.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and review effectiveness of risk controls with in the business.
  • Review investigation reports, ensuring quality of conclusions and actions to the business, further coaching and mentoring line managers throughout the process and outcomes.
  • Complete Safety & Environment reporting.
  • Identify key gaps within the business and then escalate identified solutions to gaps.
  • Coaching and mentoring site operational teams to drive them to improve their own safety and environmental performance.
  • Develop strategic partnerships with key stakeholder and drive a continuous improvement culture.

About You

Ideally the successful candidate will have the following:

  • Qualifications in WHS (e.g Certificate IV in OHS) or other related disciplines, or substantial experience in a related role is essential;
  • The ability to develop and present education/ training packages;
  • High level of motivation to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Prior experience working in a heavy industry - advantageous
  • Strong communication, leadership and influencing skills as well as problem solving and the ability to implement change; and a
  • Current Driver's licence.
