Reporting into the Operations Superintendent the Train Services Specialist will focus on planning train haulage specifically for a new contract that Pacific National has acquired (Wilmar Sugar). The purpose for this position will be:

  • Improving labour and asset utilisation
  • Better utilisation of the scale of resources to manage demand and variability
  • Creating common support services across the rail businesses
  • Better influencing supplier and completive markets
  • Creating the capacity to win incremental work with reduced capital requirements.
  • Creating “One PN” face to all external stakeholders

The Opportunity


Working as part of a dynamic, collaborative team, you will play an important role in planning our assets across North Queensland within our Bulk & Coal division.  The key element to this role is to build customer service plans for asset deployment activities to be implemented by the Service Delivery Team.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Planning Pacific National services to meet customer demands or similar
  • Be the key representative with Network Owners to deliver best pathing outcome.
  • Act as the single point of contact for allocated customers
  • Play a key role in Interfacing with terminals for scheduling/planning requirements
  • Optimising efficiencies to deliver business value for our customers

About You


  • Experience from a heavy industry background within a Planning/Scheduling environment, you will have excellent stakeholder engagement and communications skills – which will also assist in delivering the right outcomes.
  • You are passionate about achieving results, have a high attention to detail, you are methodical yet flexible.
  • A team player who can work autonomously to meet tight deadlines and competing priorities.
  • You understand supply chain realities and can navigate through operating systems to effectively deliver outcomes.
