About the opportunity

We have a key opportunity to manage all Hot Metal, Slab and Coal Product operations on a shift-by-shift basis in a safe and efficient manner to achieve the defined operational 36-hour plan. Where variations to the operational plan occur, the Hot Metal Slab and Coal Shift Supervisor will minimise any operational delay and impact to the customer; as well as employing the most efficient means of returning to the operational plan.

Some of the key responsibilities of this position include:

  • Implement safety, health and environment systems, programs and procedures ensuring a safe workplace for all employees and compliance with company and legislative safety standards and regulations whilst on shift.
  • On a shift-by-shift basis provide leadership to the steel train operations team to achieve optimum efficiency in terms of operational planning, wagon placement, and marshalling.
  • Manage shift operations ensuring the agreed standard of customer service is provided through the efficient use of assets to meet all planned customer requirements.
  • Manage the day-to-day shift operations ensuring the agreed standard of budget expenditure and overtime.
  • Contribute as a key member of the Steel Operations management team ensuring business performance is optimised through cooperation with other managers, accurate reporting and identification of areas for improvement and development
  • Coordinate service restoration at incident sites and lead or assist in incident investigations as required.

About You

With a drive to lead in a front line operational role, you are a confident and inspiring people leader, who leads by example and strives for excellence. Experience within a time critical, shift based workforce will be highly regarded. You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and possess a strong understanding of Health, Safety and Environment responsibilities.
