History

Pacific National, now one of Australia’s largest private rail operations, was formed back in 2002 with Toll’s acquisition of the National Rail Corporation and FreightCorp. Since then, the business has expanded exponentially across Australia.

Asciano purchased Pacific National, along with Patrick container ports in 2007, with the Asciano group listed on the Australian Securities Exchange on 6 June of the same year.

19 August 2016 saw Pacific National break away from the Asciano group of companies as part of the Asciano takeover by Brookfield and Qube.

We are in a new era for our business, our future as the new, standalone, Pacific National is only just beginning.

Our recent history has been highlighted by our continued growth and expanded services.
