Pacific National has moved into a new purpose-built rail freight depot on Bowen Developmental Road.
Chief Executive Officer Brett Grehan officially opened the new operations depot on Monday and said the modern facility would ensure the business could continue to rail more freight for its customers in the Bowen Basin region now and into the future.
“Bowen is a key site for our business and a vital link in the nation’s coal supply chain, which is why the new purpose-built rail depot will help ensure we remain on track to move what matters for our customers,” Mr Grehan said.
“These new digs, built and owned by local business owners, are a major upgrade offering more space and a modern fit-out to support the way we work and allow us to continue to deliver exceptional service.
“With modern training facilities to onboard new team members, and trainee drivers into the future, the depot gives the business room to move and also grow.”
The new facility includes fit-for-purpose workstations, meeting rooms, breakout spaces, a fatigue and wellness room, a Microsoft Teams training room, and secure car parking.
“While Pacific National has only moved 700 meters up the road, it’s a world away from the converted fruit and vegetable shop we occupied and operated out of for 15 years,” Mr Grehan said.
“The new building, new space, and new technology will support our operations into the future.”
