Community Connections

As an organisation with a significant regional presence we are committed to enhancing and caring for the communities which we operate in and through.

Pacific National is proud to support local business and community initiatives, specifically projects or programs that:

  • promote community safety around, and safety in, the rail industry
  • build stronger connections with local communities that we work in and rail through
  • engage with and invest in communities to support and sustain their long-term prosperity, along with ours
  • support marginalised and minority populations throughout regional Australia
  • drive a sense of belonging and inclusion by involving employees in contributions to the community that matter to them
  • inspire candidates and customers through regional community engagement programs

Through our community giving program we aim to offer our support in the form of cash or time and in-kind donations. To make a request for support please complete our Community Grant Request form.

CQ Rescue Helicopter

Pacific National is a long-term major sponsor of the CQ Rescue Helicopter service which provides rapid response critical care and rescue support to Queenslanders in need 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

In addition to the sponsorship arrangement, our employees also support CQ Rescue by organising events like annual charity golf events and raffles to raise more funds for the service.

Australian Red Cross

In response to the 2022 floods in NSW and Queensland, Pacific National donated to the Australian Red Cross to support the recovery efforts.

Funds raised by the appeal helped the Australian Red Cross provide humanitarian support to people and communities in Queensland and NSW. Contributions went towards:

  • Enabling volunteers and staff to help with evacuations, relief centres and outreach service
  • Supporting people and communities to recover and to build resilience to disasters

Pacific National employees also regularly give their time to Lifeblood.  Rolling up their sleeves to donate blood, saving up to three lives per whole blood donation.

Westpac Rescue Helicopter

Pacific National and its employees are big supporters of the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service, with several initiatives raising funds for this critical lifesaving service that operates 24 hours per day, 7 days per week from four bases in Belmont, Broadmeadow, Tamworth and Lismore.

Fund-raising events organised include the Pacific National Moree Cup Charity Dinner & Race Day and an employee-led mountain bike tour and charity bowls day.

TrackSAFE Foundation

At Pacific National we recognise that the responsibility of rail safety extends beyond rail organisations and we have an obligation to educate community service groups, governments, road user groups and the broader community. That’s why Pacific National is a founding member of the TrackSAFE Foundation, established by the Australian rail industry in March 2012.

TrackSAFE aims to reduce collisions, near collisions, injuries and fatalities on the rail network resulting from suicide, reckless behaviour and human error, and to create a better workplace for rail employees. TrackSAFE focuses on improving level crossing safety, reducing suicide and trespass incidents, and providing support for rail employees who witness or are first on the scene to traumatic rail incidents. Pacific National works with TrackSAFE to see how we can provide a safer workplace for all of our employees and to find ways of providing more support to anyone who does witness an incident.
