Corporate Social Responsiblity

Our associates live and work all over Australia, in large communities and small.  As such, our 24/7 operations are heavily invested in regional communities. Pacific National is proud to support local business and community initiatives, specifically projects or programs that:

  • support rural and regional health;

  • promote community safety or safety in the rail industry; or

  • promote social cohesion in the local communities in which we operate.

Investment is most commonly in the form of community sponsorships.

A selection of the organisations and initiatives we support includes:

trackSAFE Foundation

At Pacific National we recognise that the responsibility of rail safety extends beyond rail organisations, and we have an obligation to educate community service groups, governments, road user groups and the broader community. That’s why Pacific National is a founding member of the TrackSAFE Foundation, established by the Australian rail industry in March 2012.

TrackSAFE aims to reduce collisions, near collisions, injuries and fatalities on the rail network resulting from suicide, reckless behaviour and human error, and to create a better workplace for rail employees. TrackSAFE focuses on improving level crossing safety, reducing suicide and trespass incidents, and providing support for rail employees who witness or are first on the scene to traumatic rail incidents. Pacific National works with TrackSAFE to see how we can provide a safer workplace for all of our employees and to find ways of providing more support to anyone who does witness an incident.

CQ Rescue Helicopter

Pacific National is a long-term major sponsor of the CQ Rescue Helicopter service which provides rapid response critical care and rescue support to Queenslanders in need 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. In addition to the sponsorship arrangement, our employees also support CQ Rescue by organising events like annual charity golf events and raffles to raise more funds for the service.

CareFlight Rescue Helicopter

Three years ago, Pacific National employee Gary benefited from the life-saving support of CareFlight, an Australian aeromedical charity, when a car crashed into his motorcycle while he was riding with his partner.

As a fund-raising effort, Pacific National’s IT team engaged a hardware recycler to re-purpose our old desktops, laptops and computer hardware and raised $2,500 for donation to CareFlight.

Westpac Rescue Helicopter

Pacific National and its employees are big supporters of the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service, with several initiatives raising funds for this critical lifesaving service that operates 24 hours per day, 7 days per week from four bases in Belmont, Broadmeadow, Tamworth and Lismore. Fund-raising events organised include the Pacific National Moree Cup Charity Dinner & Race Day and an employee-led mountain bike tour and charity bowls day.
