St Marys Freight Hub has been built in an industrial zoned area, beside Dunheved Business Park, on a site located between the railway line, Lee Holm Road, Forrester Road and Christie Street.
The development covers approximately 10 hectares of the 43-hectare Pacific National site.
The State Significant Development project was approved in May 2020, construction commenced in November 2020 and the freight hub begun operating in mid-December 2021.
The new freight hub services major retail distribution centres and warehouses across Greater Western Sydney, including major industrial estates in Eastern Creek, Marsden Park, Wetherill Park and Erskine Park. Containerised freight now moves via rail from Port Botany to St Marys saving tens of thousands of truck kilometres annually.
By transporting goods on rail, St Marys Freight Hub means fewer trucks on Sydney’s roads, easing traffic congestion, improving safety and reducing emissions.

Community Benefits
The freight hub is a great job generator for Western Sydney, creating more than 175 full time ongoing jobs for Western Sydney including:
The freight hub also supported the creation of approximately 150 local construction jobs during the building phase.
These local jobs support residents in Western Sydney to live and work locally, reducing commuting times and improving traffic congestion.
Freight Benefits
An estimated 300,000 shipping containers will be transported by rail between Port Botany and St Marys each year.
Moving more freight on to rail will help improve road safety, ease traffic congestion, and reduce emissions on Western Sydney motorways and roads. In fact, between 70,000 to 80,000 truck movements will be removed from our state’s roads. In particular, trucks that currently travel during peak hour to meet midday deadlines will be removed from commuter traffic.
The St Marys Freight Hub will support generations of Western Sydney residents to gain critical skills in the freight and logistics industry.
